Reframing: Learning to Love Winter
I've always hated winter. I love spring greens and autumn golds. I revel in the long summer days. But winter...short dark days, dead plants, cold.
This year I decided to look at winter from a different perspective. I reframed my thinking. In Alabama we still have considerable days with blue skies and short-sleeved temps. I love cozying up in favorite sweatshirts and Matt's t-shirts blanket with candles lit. The deep greens of magnolia leaves, red holly berries and evergreens stand out against the sculptural branches of dormant trees.
Reframing is a key Surthrival principle. No matter how dark and cold you may feel in the midst of your grief, you can find light and joy. You may have to look a bit harder to find it, but the Light is always brightest in the darkness.
